I wanted to try this for a while before making a review on this one. I saw this Asos a while back and it was on sale for £11.25 (originally £16.00). So I thought why not, the price is fairly good for a palette that size and the photos are gorgeous of the website. I tried to google reviews on it, there wasn't much about it:/ But I did go and buy it because it was on freaking sale and the fact that there were eye bases and blushes and highlighter, I just couldn't not buy it. Okay look at these pictures from Asos, it looked so pretty!!! The palette is called the Pixi Early Bird Make Up Kit.
I purchased it on the 10th October and it came safely home to me on the 31st October. I was a slightly disappointed by it when I opened the Asos box because it was smaller than I thought it would be and the packaging seems really fragile plus the palette looked dirty with traces of eye shadows and stuff. I have to mentioned that I did regret this purchase when I first had it my hands.
I'm sorry for the picture quality, I took these when I just received them, was tired - did not care if my camera was focusing. This is the box inside which was the fold-able palette. |
Yes the reflection that you can see is the plastic, I should have removed it before taking pictures I know but you get the idea right? of the colors?:) |
This is a comparison of the palette from when I first got it and now that I've been using it for a month. L:Original. R:Now. These are the three blushes. I've been using the middle one and I love it. |
Swatches of the blushes. R: Natural Light. L: With Flash. |
Top: Original. Bottom: Now. You get conclude from the bottom picture that these eye shades are quite chalky, even the eye shadow bases. |
Top: Natural Light. Botton: With flash. Swatches from the right part of the palette( 8 eye shadows). Left to right: Swatches from the palette left to right, down and repeat. |
Left: No Flash. Right: With Flash. The top two are the bronzers and the bottom one is the highlighter. It's not overly sparkly. |
I've been using this palette for a month now and now it's in my morning routine, I think I'm going to use this till I'm done with it. It looks like it's going to last me for long. Let me tell you my opinion of this. I don't like that all the 18 eye shades are so chalky and difficult to apply with brushes, I prefer to apply them with my fingers(works so much better). I love using the eye bases because they prevent creasing but I don't know yet why there are 4 different colors because they just look the same under the same eye shadow. The blushes are okay and so is the highlighter. I can't say much about the bronzers though.
What I like about this palette is that it has nearly everything I need. I just wished that the quality of the packaging was better, that eye shadows were less chalky and more pigmented, that there were 8 matte eye shades instead of 16 shimmering ones, and finally, that there was a real black eye shadow that I could have used for lining my eyes.
This would have been the perfect travel makeup kit but I can't picture myself putting that in my bag because I would have smudges and powders of makeup everywhere on the palette, in my bag and what if it breaks. And you know these parts where the palette fold look really fragile, I'm afraid that someday the palette will tear apart into 3.
Will I repurchased this again?
No.
Do I recommend this?
No.
Do I like using it?
Yeah because I've got used to the quality and because I don't want to put that in a corner; that would be such a waste. And I like that there is everything I need for my morning makeup routine beside foundation, powder, eyebrow stuff and lipstick.
PS: Click on the picture to get a better view of the swatches. And I did not modify the lighting or put any filter on the pictures.
